Fourth Pharmexcil AGM concludes at Hyderabad

Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil), Hyderabad recently had its fourth annual general body meeting (AGM) on 12th September 2008, at Hotel Taj Deccan, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The meet was attended by various prominent industry members of the pharmaceutical industry.

During the AGM, dignitaries from Pharmexcil presented the list of new members elected to the Committee of Administration (COA) for the period 2008-10. The election declaration was announced by the returning officer, M Gopinath, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (JDGFT), Hyderabad. Venkat Jasti, Chairman, Pharmexcil welcomed B N Singh to the COA.

Dr Todd Cecil, Vice President, Compendial Sciences, US Pharmacopoeia, delivered a lecture during the technical session 'Quality by Design' on the occasion. Dr G M Bagai, Scientist F, Department of Science and Technology (DST) informed the participants about the 'Incentives and Schemes of DST'.

Venkat Jasti and other members expressed their hope that exports from the pharma sector would grow during the ensuing year and predicted that India is poised to become a global hub for contract research and new drug discovery. Various members reviewed performance of the council and conveyed their satisfaction.
