BioRad Laboratories, ICT host chromatography workshop

Bio-Rad Laboratories in association with the Institute of Chemical Technology ( ICT), Mumbai launched a two day seminar on Preparative and Process Chromatographic Purification. The workshop provided a platform for leading researchers and bio-technologists to learn and exchange their views and update them on the development in the area of bio-chromatographic separations and purifications.
Chromatography can separate complex mixtures with great precision, such as proteins that may only vary by a single amino acid. For these reasons, chromatography is quite well suited to a variety of uses in the field of biotechnology, such as separating and purifying the desired bio molecule.

Speaking at the seminar, Professor Dr. Arvind Lali, from ICT and co-ordinator of Bio-Rad ICT Initiative said, '' Chromatography has been used effectively for long, for purposes of drug discovery, vaccine development and generic drug production. ICT provides superior facilities and expertise in providing chromatographic purification and separation solutions aiding the rapidly developing Biopharma industry space in India. Under this initiative any organisation/industry can utilise the chromatographic lab and our expertise to overcome the challenge they are facing in their day to day work with regard to purification, separation and yield of their bio molecule. This is the 4th year in a row we are conducting this national level workshop under the aegis of Bio-Rad ICT initiative and we hope that this will be certainly of a great use to people who wants to understand and utilise this technology for their benefit.''

Lauding the efforts of the two organisations Dhiren Wagle, Country Manager ,Bio-Rad Laboratories said, ''This collaboration will give the life science market and the biopharma industry a much needed boost to further the cause of research and development in the science of chromatography ''. Bio-Rad has been at the helm of many ground breaking inventions, providing a vast range of innovative products for the clinical diagnostic and life science market. It is our endeavour to propel the bio-pharma industry in exploring cost-effective solutions in the chromatography practices which have developed over a period of time.
