Claris Lifesciences gets US FDA approval

Our News Bureau - Mumbai

Claris Lifesciences has announced that it has received US FDA approval for three injectables products-ciproflaxacin (anti-infective), metronidazole (anti-infective) and ondansetron (anti-emetic). This is a significant breakthrough for the company.

The US pharma market is the largest in the world, accounting for 45 percent of the global pharma sales according to IMS-Health report 2006. The successful launch of these products in the market will provide a major fillip to the company's US strategy and overall business growth. Arjun Handa, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Claris, said, "After US FDA acceptance of our facility, this is perhaps one of the most important milestones we have achieved, as far as the company's US operations go. The company has filed 16 ANDA's so far and also lined up a future basket of products for the US market." The company's products for the US market are manufactured at its state-of-the-art injectable manufacturing facility, which received US FDA acceptance in early 2007. The facility was also recently awarded the prestigious Frost & Sullivan India Manufacturing Excellence Award 2007.
