Emcure signs MoU with Iceland-based Actavis Pharma

Emcure Pharmaceutical Limited and Actavis Pharma of Iceland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for close co-operation between the two companies for supply of drugs to Russia and CIS countries. The companies also formally announced the signing of agreement reached between them for supply of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs used against HIV/AIDs, to various parts of the world.

A senior delegation led by Satish Mehta, CEO, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited was in Reykjavic, Iceland recently on the occasion of the state visit of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, president of India to Iceland. Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and President Dr Olafur Ragnar Grimsson of Iceland laid the cornerstone of a new Actavis building at the headquarters of the company, which will house the company’s development centre in the presence of senior officials from Actavis Pharma and Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Commenting on the occasion, Satish Mehta, CEO, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited said, ‘‘This collaboration with Actavis enhances the scope of projects jointly handled and gets us excellent reach in both regulated and semi-regulated markets for both ARV’s and other products.’’
