Sun Pharma FY net spurts 20 per cent

The consolidated net profit of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd during the
quarter ended March 31, 2005 has increased marginally to Rs 118.3 crore from
Rs 116.8 crore registered during the same period in the previous year.
The companys consolidated sales during the quarter has recorded 16.5 per
cent increase to Rs 311.4 crore from the earlier Rs 267.4 crore in the previous
year.
Sun Pharmas total income from operations during the quarter has recorded
26.1 per cent growth to Rs 346.3 crore from Rs 274.7 crore. The consolidated
sales for the year ended March 2005 increased by 22 per cent to Rs 1,301 crore
from Rs 1,067 crore in the previous year.
Despite a hefty jump in R&D spending and rise in depreciation
provision, its net profit moved up by 19.8 per cent to Rs 419.8 crore from Rs
350.5 crore in the previous year. The rise in net profit resulted in stronger
EPS of Rs 22.6 as compared to Rs 18.90 for the face value of Rs 5 per share.
