Wockhardt’s formulations plant inaugurated in HP

EPP News Bureau - Mumbai

Wockhardt Ltd has inaugurated its new pharmaceutical formulations plant in Himachal Pradesh (HP) recently.

The high-tech plant in Barotiwala is designed to meet the requirements of Indian and international regulatory agencies. Spread over 10 acres, the plant has a capacity to manufacture two billion tablets and capsules a year. It was completed in a record time of nine months and provides employment to 150 people, most of them from the region, a release said here.

‘‘We have created a world-class facility that will supply high-quality medicines for the growing Indian market,’’ the company’s chairman Habil Khorakiwala said after inaugurating the plant. ‘‘It will be a major addition to company’s manufacturing base in India,’’ he added.

This is the company’s tenth manufacturing plant and the first in Himachal Pradesh. The company already has eight plants across various locations in India and one in the UK. It was only last year that the company launched the Wockhardt Biotech Park, India’s largest biopharmaceuticals complex, at Aurangabad in Maharashtra.
