Enertech launches CFM for hassle-free formulation dispensing

Balakrishnan Nair - Mumbai

City-based Enertech Electronics Pvt Ltd has launched computerised formulation makers (CFM) for hassle-free quality control checks. Speaking about the technology, Rahul Shah, director, Enertech Electronics P Ltd, said ‘‘The CFM systems manufactured according to cGMP/GAMP/ATEX guidelines not only provide consistent quality but also increase efficiency, reduce production time, eliminate daily re-calibration and quality control checks, remove variation from can to can/batch to batch, reduce waste, stock holding, labour and chances of contamination due to human contact.’’

‘‘The CFM Express software enables to acquire ISO audit trials, comprehensive daily, weekly and monthly quantitative analysis reports, production reports, daily time stamping reports, stock reports, batch costing reports and various other reports,’’ he added.

CFM systems are fully automatic gravimetric dispensing systems, which enable to deliver best quality dispensing of formulations. The cost effective technology for ‘just in time, right first time’ fluid dispensing is ideal for production of formulations and recipe according to key ingredients.

The software finds applications in pharmaceuticals, speciality chemicals, photographic chemicals, petrochemicals, paints, textiles, printing/ink, food flavourings, cosmetics, confectionary, plastic/PVC, floor covering, wall paper, leather etc. It improves efficiency, improve quality, improve cash flow, improve profit

The benefits of CFM include improved quality, saving time and money, reduces production times, guarantees repeatable results, right first time’ results - no remaking, eliminates overmakes and QC checks, no variation from can to can and batch to batch, ISO audit trail tracking, reduces waste and stock holding, cleaner, safer workplace, eliminates daily re-calibration and enables stock management and traceability.

The CFM series 100 offers serial dispensing of ingredients for making formulations according to formula or recipe. It has an integrated dispense vessel system and a single point transit for bucket load and unload. It is the standard and most economical solution to obtain formulations.

The CFM series 200 offers the multi-thread dispense process of ingredients for making formulations according to formula or recipe. It has ‘in-line weigh scales’ system along with individual dispense vessels for each ingredient. It has supply conveyor system for continuous scale mass production of formulations. It is the higher end series for high quantity production needs.

Besides, the company offers in-plant software for materials, formulations, designs and works orders called CFM Express. The CFM Express is written and supported in-house and runs under Windows 2000, NT and XP.

The powerful packages meets all the data storage and retrieval requirements of modern in-plant formulation systems with extensive reporting and costing utilities. The intuitive and graphical interface combines ease of use with extensive custom inbuilt reporting functions further enhanced by Microsoft Office connectivity to Word, Excel and Outlook.

The benefits of CFM Express include ISO audit trail tracking, stock management, job usage estimates and history, re-formulation and work-off tools, full job costings, comprehensive reports package, data import and exports tools and computerised formulation makers.

Gravimetric dispensing

Dispensing (often referred to as blending, dosing or tinting) is divided into two main technologies — volumetric or gravimetric. Formulations or Recipes contain ingredients that are dispensed into a target dispense vessel from storage containers in the required quantities. These quantities are either measured volumetrically or gravimetrically.

Volumetric dispensers dose a volume of product, usually by priming a chamber and discharging like a bicycle pump or syringe. This method delivers an assumed quantity of product into the dispense vessel. There is no feedback in volumetric systems.

Gravimetric dispensers weigh the precise amount of each ingredient using precision dispense valves above a highly accurate weighing platform, thus adding a known quantity into the dispense vessel. Gravimetric systems have feedback control.

Therefore, gravimetric dispensing is commonly regarded as the most reliable, accurate, flexible and robust method to produce high quality product batches.
