Indian Health Professions Alliance formed

The
Indian Health Professions Alliance (IHPA) to integrate healthcare system and
to provide a unique platform to exchange experience and expertise amongst healthcare
providers was formed recently during a two day international conference on health
sciences held at Mysore.
Presidents of statutory bodies and professional associations from medical, dental,
pharmacy, nursing, ayurveda and physiotherapy participated in the penal discussion.
After detailed discussions it was unanimously agreed to form the IHPA.
The IHPA will moot new ideas to integrate healthcare in India
and advice the policy makers and government during disasters and natural calamities.
A core group consisting of all presidents or their nominees of the all statutory
bodies and professional organisations of health sciences was constituted.
The conference was organised by the JSS Mahavidyapeetha and its Health Science
Institutions including medical, dental, pharmacy, ayurveda, nursing, physiotherapy
and speech and hearing. The theme of the conference was Integrated
Healthcare for Global Wellbeing.
Dr B G Nagavi, principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, was nominated as the convenor
of ICHS. The core committee will meet in the near future to workout the details
including constitution, by laws, aims and objectives, membership etc. KLE Society,
Belgaum has come forward to organise the ICHS core committee meeting in Belgaum
or Bangalore.
About 3,000 delegates from 13 states participated in the conference. There were
international speakers from Australia, Sudan, Srilanka and Germany. 285 posters
were displayed in the above seven disciplines of health sciences.
Two theme lectures and about 60 oral presentations were made by teachers, research
scholars and about 50 invited lectures were delivered on various topics related
to the theme. In addition, scientific exhibition was also arranged.
A panel discussion on the theme was also held.
