Strides Arcolab inaugurates its new R&D facility

City-based Strides Arcolab Ltd has commissioned its state-of-the-art global
pharmaceutical research centre. The R&D centre was inaugurated by T C Venkat
Subramanian, chairman and managing director, Export-Import Bank of India recently
here.
The new R&D facility Star Technology and Research Centre (STAR),
spread over 50,000 square feet with an investment of Rs 18 crore, will spearhead
the research activities for companys global partners. The centre will
also focus on research in global diseases like HIV, tuberculosis and malaria.
All research facilities of the company will be consolidated in the new premises.
The centre has been designed to global standards and already employs 200 scientists.
The R&D scientific pool is being further enhanced to meet the challenges
of the companys global partners. The R&D centre is equipped with latest
equipment matching those of the global centres.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar, Group CEO, Strides Arcolab said, The
new R&D Centre will herald a new chapter in the history of the company.
It is further reflection of our belief in setting up global scale facilities.
The centre will provide significant impetus to our research strategy which is
focused on NDDS and non infringing process besides proprietary matrix technology.
We already are working with 10 global pharma clients in these areas.
The R&D centre will develop patentable technology and non-infringing formulations
across dosage forms. It will also work on areas like analytical method development,
conducting stability studies to manufacturing clinical supplies for proof of
concept studies.
