Prof Dandiya oration held in Jaipur

The 13th oration of Professor Prem Chand Dandiya Endowment Trust was recently held at Jaipur Medical Association in collaboration with the National Medical Academy (Rajasthan chapter), Alliance for Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA, USA) and the Indian Institute of Health Management & Research (IIHMR), Jaipur.

The oration was delivered by Padmashree Professor Ranjit Roy Chaudhury, UNESCO chair in Rational Use of Drugs and chair INCLEN.

On this occasion Prof Bapna, chairman of the Professor Prem Chand Dandiya Endowment Trust highlighted the aims and objectives of the Trust.

In his presentation Prof Roy said India is one of the most important pharmaceutical producing country with best competitive global prices, yet, over 70 per cent of the population lacks access to essential medicines.

He illustrated with data on availability and affordability of quality medicines prior Delhi State Drug Policy 1994 and post 1994, the success of various interventions which stands recognised internationally as The Delhi Model.

He further added that various steps have not only resulted in economic savings but better therapeutic outcome as a result of better prescribing and dispensing practices.
