Book titled Scientific Foundation of Ayurveda unveiled

The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra Dr Vimaltai Mundada unveiled a book titled Scientific Foundation of Ayurveda at a function held here recently.

The author of this book Dr H S Palep is an eminent scholar of both ayurvedic and modern medicine. While speaking on the occasion Mundada said, ‘‘The government of Maharashtra recognises such traditional medicines. And made it mandatory to have beds exclusively for ayurveda treatment in hospitals. The appointment of ayurvedic doctors along with allopathic doctors is also being done. There is a need to understand ayurveda. And the book would help to better understand. We hope that in the future all the pathies come closer to each other.’’

The director of CSIR Dr R A Mashelkar’s message on this occasion read there is need to form a golden triangle of traditional medicine and modern medicine and modern science.

A seminar ‘‘Tadvidya Sambhasha’’ was also organised to commemorate the release of the book. Various well-known speakers emphasised the importance of research in ayurveda using parameters of modern medicine and modern science.
