Biocon, focussed on statins, diabetic segment, immuno suppressants and oncology, will soon launch Insugen, a new product under its diabetic segment, in the first half of this year. Clinical trials are expected to complete shortly. The company is also in discussion with several international companies for marketing alliances. As a part of its strategy outlined for funding growth opportunities, Biocon is setting up a biological plant for monoclonal antibodies for oncology which is expected to be complete by next calendar year. The facility will develop in licensed monoclonal antibodies for tumour marker for head and neck cancer. Clinical trials are expected to begin in the next two months at Clinigene, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Biocon and hopes to complete it by the end of 2005.
