Trade delegations visit Myanmar

The Trade delegation of Indo Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industries recently visited Myanmar creating a new milestone on the path of industrial relations between India and Myanmar. The delegation was led by G L Goenka, president, Indo Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Seventeen delegates from different fields of business and industries from India and one resident businessman of Indian origin in Myanmar participated in the delegation.

According to a release here, India is a major importer of merchandise from Myanmar to the extent of US $243 millions while its exports are barely US $40 millions and hence the urgent need to boost the exports and finding new avenues for industrial goods and services.

There is a good scope for imports of pulses, fishery products and timber from Myanmar and export of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment for ICU, plants for small scale industries etc, the release adds.
