Infar organises WIM conference

The pharmaceutical firm Infar India Limited, parent company Organon NV, Netherlands, recently organised the inaugural World Infertility Month (WIM) conference. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Surya Kanta Mishra, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare-Panchayats and Rural Development, Govt of West Bengal which is being celebrated by over 30 countries worldwide during this month.

The theme for the inaugural WIM this year is ‘‘A Million Babies: Time to Break the Silence.’’

On this occasion the company released a free patient guidebook titled ‘Your Guide to Understanding Infertility Management’. Besides English the company is planning to publish the guide in eight other Indian languages viz; Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kanada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati soon.

According to Paul Rohof, managing director, Infar (I) Ltd; ‘‘Such a focused campaign was especially needed as around a million IVF babies have been born since the birth of the world’s first test tube baby.’’

Speaking on the occasion Jagdish Singh, marketing controller, Infar stated, ‘‘It has been our corporate objective to change women’s lives for the better with the help of innovative healthcare products developed. WIM is a step further in this direction.’’

According to a release during WIM, Organon also sponsored an awareness survey on fertility issues in the US conducted by The American Infertility Association. The results of the survey have further established the need for an annual awareness exercise like WIM, added the release.
